The Carson Ridge Disc Golf Park & Interpretive Trails provides a fun and challenging experience for all disc golfers, while connecting with the local ecology and history.
The Park Facilities include a practice area, the Pony Express Disc Golf Trail and the Stadium Course. The practice area consists of two baskets for learning how to ‘putt’ and throw short distances at a basket. This area is landscaped with playground chips and stone and is the perfect place to begin your disc golf experience.
The Pony Express Disc Golf Trail is a 9 hole course that is perfect for the newer player, children and families. It is also great for the experienced player looking for a quick round. The defined trails and manicured high desert landscape make it great for introducing friends and family to the sport you love. Rolling hills and short holes challenge new players to learn different throws. Experienced golfers enjoy fine tuning shot-shapes and distance control in the wind. While enjoying the course you will learn historical facts about the western Nevada stations that served riders along the legendary Pony Express Trail.
The Stadium Course has 18 holes which will challenge both the intermediate and experienced disc golfers. You may be ready to 'graduate' to this course when you can reliably score under par on the Pony Express course. Playing the course is a scenic tour of high desert sageland, a slot canyon with interesting rock outcrops as obstacles, and a prominent ridge overlooking Carson City at the foot of snow capped mountains. The tee signs list par for both intermediate and advanced levels, making it easy to play handicapped rounds between different abilities. You can learn the species of plants and wildlife you may encounter on the course from each tee sign.
